My fiancee was watching Channel 4s embarrassing bodies the other night when a guy who had had his prostate removed was on.? She asked me whether it affected your sex life, I wasn?t exactly sure how and after some quick research came across a business ethics expert in America, Chuck Gallagher, describing very candidly his own experiences.

Having your prostate removed can severely affect your sexual experience, your ability to ejaculate can be nil and it can take some time to get an erection, often not as good as before.? This depends greatly on how damaged the nerve cells around the prostate become.?? This man in question spoke openly about how it affected his emotions not being able to perform and despite taking Viagra and other performance enhancing drugs nothing seemed to work.? It was purely by coincidence that I read that against all his reasoning he tried hypnotherapy with brilliant results and in a short? space of time he was performing at a good level again, less the ejaculate.

We always have to be wary of becoming the thing we fear the most.? If we undergo surgery with particular risks, dwelling on those risks and a pessimistic attitude creates an expectation of a worse case scenario.? This self-fulfilling prophecy is our worst enemy.? Only last year Cambridge and Southampton University showed that people with a positive expectation of painkillers suffered less than those on the same drugs expecting the worse.
